Recovery at home
Recover at home with a steady hand — and fewer trips back to the hospital.
The days after surgery are when most setbacks happen. The right help at home — with mobility, medications, and the basics — keeps recovery on track and lowers the odds of an avoidable readmission.
Why the first weeks matter most
Hospitals discharge people sooner than they used to, often before a patient can safely manage alone. The result is a vulnerable stretch at home where a missed medication, a fall getting to the bathroom, or an overlooked wound can undo the whole recovery. Having a caregiver or nurse present through that window is one of the most effective ways to stay out of the emergency room.
What post-surgery care covers
- Safe transfers, walking, and fall prevention
- Medication reminders and management
- Wound monitoring and dressing changes (with a skilled nurse)
- Meal preparation that fits recovery and diet restrictions
- Transportation to follow-up appointments
- Watching for warning signs and escalating to a nurse when something's off
Match the care to the recovery. A knee replacement and open-heart surgery need very different support. Our RN owner sets the plan — an aide, a skilled nurse, or both — and adjusts it as you heal.
Starting on short notice
Discharges rarely come with much warning. Best Care can often place a caregiver the same day, so you don't have to delay leaving the hospital — or spend the first night home without help.
Plan the discharge before it happens.
Even if surgery is days away, call now. We'll have the right caregiver ready so the trip home is the easy part.
